Our fees are based on the depth of the transcript required and the client group we are working with. For academic institutions, students and charities we offer a discounted rate with further discounts for bulk work submitted to us. All our fees are transparent, we do not have hidden fees and we are not currently VAT registered. The list below will give you an overview of our fees but please contact us for a project-specific quote. The prices quoted are based on clear audio recordings under categories A, B, C and D as outlined in the following information.
Please specify your depth of script requirement
|DEPTH OF SCRIPT||FEE BAND||SPECIFICS OF CONTENT|
|Intelligent verbatim||A||Interviewer and Respondent: leave out background noises, um’, ‘eh’, ‘you know’ etc No repetitions, descriptors or tripping over words included. A tidying up of the transcript but without losing or adding to any of the important data. OPTION– include ((laughs)) to show emotion of respondent Ideal for clients requiring analysis of what was said without discourse analysis requirements, i.e. a record of what was asked and what answers were given in a precise manner without fully recording every utterance and background noise that doesn’t add to the information required for analysis.|
|Semi verbatim||B||Interviewer only: leave out background noises, ‘um’, ‘eh’, ‘you know’ , interruptions by interviewer etc not included
Respondent: leave out background noises but Include ‘um’, ‘eh’, ‘you know’ with repetitions, descriptors (i.e. laughingly, hesitates, pauses) or tripping over words included. Semi-verbatim or totally verbatim is normally used by clients carrying out discourse analysis (DA), or discourse studies, i.e. analyzing vocal language use or any significant semiotic event (semiotics is closely related to the field of linguistics, which, for its part, studies the structure and meaning of language more specifically).
|Totally verbatim||C||Interviewer and Respondent: Including everything that was said and heard. This includes ‘um, ‘eh’, ((with hesitation)), ((laughingly)), ((sarcastically)), ((slight pause)) and exactly what the interviewer said OPTION– include pigeon English or mispronunciation such as ‘coz and wouldn’t ‘ve dunnit that way As above re discourse analysis – this method also used for legal cases (transcription of under caution interviews/disciplinary meeting/inquests) where everything must be noted down.|
|Focus Group up to 12 people||D||Intelligent transcription unless otherwise advised by client. For totally verbatim focus group transcription additional fees would apply and would be charged as per PACE work (see next table)|
