Student interview transcription is something our teams undertake on a daily basis. They work with student interviews supplied by young students and mature student.

When students decide to have their interviews transcribed as part of their dissertation work or for research purposes they are a little wary of how much it will cost to transcribe their interviews. We offer discounted rates for student interview transcription and because our service is quick, efficient and accurate we do a lot of business with students.

Initially we get an enquiry, usually something along the lines of “I am a PhD student at xx-university and I have some interviews I have conducted as part of my research towards my dissertation. Could you tell me if you offer discounts to students and how long the work would take to turn around?”

We are happy to reply with the good news that we always offer discounts to students and, if you send us more than five hours worth of interviews for transcription you would get a further discount. It would take a professional audio transcriber approximately seven hours to transcribe a 60 minute interview, totally verbatim, including an hour to fully proof read through the transcript using the original audio. Imagine how long that would take if you are not a professional transcriber used to working with one to one interviews? With 20 professional transcribers on the team, all covered by their individual contracts to keep everything they hear (and type) confidential, ethics committees are pleased to give the thumbs up to student interviews being transcribed by us. Along with our quote we send you a copy of our standard confidentiality agreement, references from previous clients and a booking form.

Once a booking form is returned to us fully completed, we send further information on how to send your digital audio to us across a secure file transfer system. All audio is logged onto a project management sheet and the details are sent to you for your records – including a breakdown of the costs for the whole project so you can keep an eye on your budget. We don’t charge VAT so the price you see is the price you pay, with nothing added on top. If you have cassette tapes that need transcribing (or video/CDs) we can cover those too. All cassette tapes are converted to digital sound files and sent (free of charge ) to you to keep on your PC for ease of playback, especially if you want to run through the transcripts with the audio. Original cassettes are returned to you after the project is completed.

We have worked with dyslexic students, transcribing their interviews and then liaising with student services in their region, who assist students with the costs of having their work transcribed. Simply let us know at the time of your enquiry that you will be seeking reimbursement from student services and we will discuss this further with you and make the running of your project as smooth as possible for you.
